Pianists of all various ages (as of October 25, 2025) are eligible to compete in the following age divisions:
6 and under. Total playing time cannot exceed 4 minutes. Registration Fee: $60
7 years old: Total playing time cannot exceed 5 minutes. Registration Fee: $65
8 years old: Total playing time cannot exceed 5 minutes. Registration Fee: $65
9 years old: Total playing time cannot exceed 6 minutes. Registration Fee: $70

OPEN REPERTOIRE (PIANO SOLOS and FOUR-HAND PIANO WORKS ONLY). While there is no penalty for pianists exceeding the TOTAL playing time for each Age Division, time keeper will STOP the performance abruptly when maximum time allotment is reached. No edits, cuts or trimming any of the works will be permitted.
All pieces must be performed memorized. Music must be presented to the adjudicator with measure rows numbered.
Pianists may play any published piano work(s) by any living or deceased composers of any time era. Pianists must use standard published repertoire (This refers to music printed for distribution and sale and available through the general market in printed form with legal copyright printed on the music). Participants must use legally-obtained music that is available to the general public. Downloaded music from public domain (i.e., imlsp.org) are acceptable. Music purchased from a legal internet source meets the criteria if it is accompanied by copyright and proof of purchase information.
No movie music, broadway, adaptations or jazz improvisations permitted. If you have any questions about your repertoire please contact us before you apply.
All repeats and Da Capos can be omitted. Loose papers are not permitted. Please put into binders or presentation folders.
Medals given based on merit: Gold, Silver and Bronze division. All pianists will receive certificates and valuable feedback from World-Class adjudicators. We do not land mail medals. It will available at Classic Pianos in Bellevue WA by December 1st, 2025. If you reside out of city or state, you will receive a Medal Certificate (PDF file). Four Grand Prix winners (selected by the adjudicators) will perform for a LIVE audience at 7 pm (same location, same day)
SCHEDULE:
Please keep the ENTIRE DAY open and available. You may NOT request a time range. Competition will start at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of your group time.
CONDUCT:
For everyone's benefit, please keep voices to a whisper. Video recording of your child is permitted. Cameras can only be positioned BEHIND the adjudicator's peripheral vision. No infants are allowed in the competition room.
Performers are welcome to stay and watch each other perform or may leave after performing.
This is a formal event and proper formal attire should be worn. No T-shirts, sweats or flip-flops allowed. Warm-ups pianos are not provided.
Dr. Park stands as a distinguished Korean American solo pianist, chamber musician, and educator. He clinched the esteemed First Prize in the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition, which is presently recognized as the Virginia Waring International Piano Competition. His exceptional talents were acknowledged with a U.S. presidential award from President Obama in 2016, and in 2017, he attained the esteemed title of Shigeru Kawai Artist.
Currently, Dr. Park is the CEO and Executive Director of OpusOne International Music Festival. He also holds the role of Assistant Professor and Director of the Artist Certificate Program at Azusa Pacific University and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Fullerton College. He additionally serves as the Artistic Director of the International Association of Professional Music Teachers (IAPMT), holds the role of Artist-Teacher at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music, and sits on the Board of Directors for the American Liszt Society of Southern California. His teaching legacy includes former faculty appointments at Idyllwild Arts Academy, Los Angeles City College, and the USC Thornton School of Music, where he was the school’s first lecturer.
Dr. Park’s performances have graced prestigious venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Weill Carnegie Hall in New York, La Mirada Theatre, Pasadena Pacific Civic Auditorium, McCallum Theatre, Marsee Auditorium, Scottish Auditorium, Wilshire Ebell Theater, Barrett Hall at Pasadena Conservatory of Music, Muckenthaler Art Center, President Nixon’s Library, Zipper Hall, Thayer Hall at Colburn, Pasadena Public Library, Fullerton Public Library, Idyllwild Arts Concert Hall, UCLA Concert Hall, Azusa Pacific University Munson Hall, Fullerton College Theatre and Recital Hall, Cal Lutheran University, Cal Baptist University, Biola University, Tainan University Concert Hall, USC Concert Hall, Gunsan National University, Jeonbuk National University, and numerous churches. He recently performed at the Rutgers University Concert Hall. Internationally, he has organized and performed in Haydn Hall at Esterházy Palace in Austria, Auditorium Maximum Hall in Cluj, The Great Concert Hall in Târgu Mureș, and Thalia Hall in Sibiu, Romania. In summer 2025, IAPMT plans to organize concerts at SUK Hall in the Rudolfinum in Prague, Haydn Hall in Vienna, and the Wiener Saal at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
A dedicated chamber musician, Dr. Park takes his musical talents around the world with his ensemble, the Park Trio. He has been invited to collaborate with the El Camino College/CTS Orchestra, OMC Orchestra, ICO Orchestra, and Dosan Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. Park’s influence extends to his private teaching studio in Fullerton, Orange County, where his students have achieved success in numerous national competitions.
His educational outreach spans continents—Dr. Park is regularly invited to present masterclasses and lectures in Europe, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and throughout the U.S. He serves as Chairperson for the MTNA Annual Evaluation and the Sonata/Sonatina competition, and contributes as a judge for events such as IAPMT, SATORI, Steinway, IPPA, Lansum Competition, SYMF, and MTAC competitions.
During the summer months, Dr. Park is actively involved in music festivals as faculty at the Montecito International Music Festival, John Perry Academy of Music, Lansum Music Festival, Conero Festival in Italy, ASIA International Piano Academy & Festival in Korea, and the Idyllwild Summer Program. He also leads as Music Director at New Life Vision Church, conducts the Montecito International Music Festival Youth Orchestra and GMCO Chamber Group, and directs the Laguna Road School Choir.
Dr. Park’s recorded works include a contribution to the Idyllwild Chamber Orchestra’s recording of Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, aimed at young audiences. Additionally, his chamber ensemble, the Park Trio, released a Christian CD titled priere.
His musical journey began under the guidance of Nelms McKelvain at Idyllwild Arts Academy and continued through his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees at the University of Southern California, where he studied with the renowned pianist John Perry.
His students have garnered accolades in a multitude of competitions—including the Hong Kong International Competition, Los Angeles Liszt International Piano Competition, and Seattle International Piano Competition—and have gone on to attend elite conservatories and universities around the globe, underscoring Dr. Park’s deep and lasting impact on the field of music education.

His concert experiences read like a world tour, with performances in some of the most
prestigious venues globally, as well as on major television and radio stations such as ABC,
CBS, KKGO, and WQXR. From the hallowed halls of Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall’s Weill
Recital Hall in New York to the grandeur of Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and
Pasadena’s Ambassador Auditorium, Choi's sold-out performances, including a memorable
recital at Zipper Hall to benefit the AMRON Foundation and a featured solo recital at the “On
Stage” Music Festival in Savannah, Georgia, are testaments to his exceptional artistry. His
collaborations with orchestras, such as performing both Chopin Concertos with the South Bay
Chamber Orchestra and as the soloist at the Redlands Summer Music Festival's season finale,
complete with spectacular fireworks, have left audiences in awe.
Choi’s international acclaim has taken him to some of the most celebrated stages around the
world, including the Salzburg Festival in Austria, where he showcased his artistry on a global
platform. He has also presented concerts and masterclasses at prestigious festivals like the
Oxford Philomusica Festival in England, as well as in Cyprus, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and
France. A career highlight came when he performed Beethoven's Emperor Concerto with the
Göttingen Symphony Orchestra at the stunning Herrenhausen Gardens, a performance later
recorded for a CD album with the Hannover Musik Hochschule. In Frankfurt, Choi also
performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic
under Juri Gilbo.
Choi has captivated audiences in South Korea, earning top honors as a First Prize winner at the
first-ever international piano competition in South Korea, the Han Romanson International Piano
Competition in Seoul. His performances at iconic venues in South Korea, such as the Seoul Arts
Center, Busan Cultural Center, Sejong Hall, and Hoam Art Hall, have further solidified his
reputation. In Mexico, Choi won a top prize at the Parnassos International Piano Competition
and performed with the Monterrey Symphony. He has also earned semi-finalist honors at the
International Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht, as well as back-to-back diplomas at the
prestigious International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow. In Taiwan, he claimed a
major prize at the Taiwan International Piano Competition and performed with the National
Symphony Orchestra at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Concert Hall. His international
competition triumphs include major awards in Mexico, Taiwan, and Italy, culminating in a
remarkable First Prize and the People’s Choice Award at the prestigious Jose Iturbi International
Music Competition, which boasts one of the largest monetary prizes in the world.
Choi’s musical education is just as distinguished as his performance career. A graduate of The
Juilliard School (BM, MM) under Oxana Yablonskaya, Choi’s studies took him to the Musik
Hochschule Hannover in Germany, where he earned the coveted Soloklassen Diploma under
the mentorship of Vladimir Krainev. His artistic depth is influenced by his strong connection to
the Russian school of technique, tone, and artistry, a hallmark of many of his performances.
Beyond the stage, Choi has dedicated much of his life to teaching and mentoring the next
generation of pianists. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2007, he has shaped the careers of
students who have gone on to study at some of the most prestigious conservatories in the
world, including The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory of Music, Manhattan School of
Music, and the Eastman School of Music. His students have achieved top prizes and
recognition in national and international competitions, including the Chopin International Piano
Competition in Warsaw, Poland, the e-Piano Junior Competition, Gina Bachauer Junior
Competition, National Chopin Competition of the United States, Arthur Fraser International
Piano Competition, MTNA National Competition, MTAC State Competition, and many others.
As a sought-after masterclass teacher, Choi has inspired pianists across the globe, from Beijing
to Seoul and Busan, South Korea, and more locally in Southern California’s Orange County
High School for the Arts and the Colburn School.
In 2012, Choi founded the Salit Foundation (www.salitfoundation.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization dedicated to enriching lives through classical music, education, and artistic
development. The foundation provides training and performance opportunities through
programs like the Salit MasterClass Series, Encore Concert Series, and the Musician’s Platform.
One of its flagship events, the Derek Jones Concerto Competition, gives amateur pianists a rare
and invaluable opportunity to perform with a live orchestra. The foundation fosters collaboration
between world-class musicians, educators, and aspiring artists, creating a thriving musical
community.
The opening of the Salit Conservatory of Music in Burbank, California, in 2023 marked another
milestone in Choi’s mission to share the beauty of music with the community. The conservatory,
with its intimate 140-seat recital space, serves as a gathering place for artists, musicians, and
audiences to connect, inspire, and enrich each other's lives through the arts.
A distinguished Steinway Artist, Rufus Choi continues to push the boundaries of what music can
achieve, both on stage and in the studio. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Ruth, and
their three sons—Noah, Micah, and Nathanael—and remains committed to nurturing a new
generation of artists who will shape the future of classical music.
Chia-Hui Clare Yuan is an acclaimed pianist and highly sought-after teacher based in Vancouver, Canada. Renowned for her artistry and dedication to music, Clare performs most often as part of The Meeks Duo, a piano-four-hands collaboration with her husband, Dr. Scott Meek. Together, they have captivated audiences across Canada and internationally with their groundbreaking programs, which blend classical repertoire with innovative arrangements and contemporary works.
Clare has been featured in concert series such as Capilano University Cap Classics, West Vancouver Community Arts Council, Qualicum Beach Music on Sunday, and the Emerging Artist Alumni Series at the University of Victoria. Clare has performed in such prestigious halls as the Taiwan National Concert Hall, the Kay Meek Centre, and the Vancouver Playhouse. She debuted as a soloist with the Metropolitan Philharmonic of New York Orchestra and conducted the Vancouver Orchestra Club Symphony, showcasing her versatility across symphonic and popular repertoire.
The Meeks Duo’s online presence has flourished since 2021 with weekly YouTube videos featuring Scott’s imaginative arrangements and Clare’s expert video editing. Their interview series, “The Meeks Talk”, fosters engaging conversations with musicians worldwide. Their work has been played on CBC and Fairchild Radio, and their albums are available on streaming platforms globally.
Clare Yuan’s professional expertise extends beyond performance and teaching, as she is also an experienced adjudicator and mentor in the music community. She has judged esteemed local festivals, including the Richmond Music Festival and the SSP Sea to Sky International Music Festival. As part of The Meeks Duo, Clare and her husband Scott have adjudicated prestigious events such as the Northwest International Piano Ensemble Competition. Clare has also given masterclasses across Canada and in Taiwan, sharing her knowledge and passion to inspire the next generation of pianists.
Clare studied under esteemed mentors, including the legendary piano duo Kenneth Broadway and Ralph Markham, renowned Canadian pianist Jane Coop at the University of British Columbia, Dr. Arkady Aronov at the Manhattan School of Music, and Professor Eva Solar-Kinderman at the University of Victoria. Born in Taiwan, Clare continues to inspire the next generation of musicians through her teaching while connecting with her community through charitable initiatives and multimedia projects.
Described by the Winnipeg Free Press as a “consummate musician” who plays with “near-impossible fluidity” and “total physical involvement and passion,” Canadian pianist Scott Meek is an in-demand chamber musician, collaborative pianist, teacher and music publisher/arranger in Langley, British Columbia. He performs and records regularly with his wife pianist Clare Yuan as part of The Meeks Duo, and his extensive repertoire of collaborative works with other instruments includes around 200 complete concertos and sonatas. As an arranger, Scott has published over 100 works for piano duet, and the number continues to grow, as he gets new ideas all the time!
Scott Meek is a top prizewinner in numerous international and national competitions, and he has performed as soloist with the Edmonton, Toronto, and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestras, as well as with several orchestras in the USA. He has performed at prominent venues such as the Taiwan National Concert Hall (Taipei, Taiwan), Kennedy Centre (Washington, DC), Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto, ON), Winspear Centre (Edmonton, AB), Centennial Concert Hall (Winnipeg, MB), and the Kay Meek Centre (Vancouver, BC).
Meek was an adjudicator for the CFMTA National Piano Competition, the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers’ Association’s Provincial Festival, the Richmond Music Festival, the Northwest International Piano Ensemble Competition, and the Sea to Sky International Piano Festival. He has given masterclasses at universities in Taiwan, as well as locally.
Meek was a teacher at the Mastery School of Music in Vancouver for 10 years, and is currently on the faculty of the Langley Community Music School. His students have won awards in local festivals and competitions, and have participated in concerto performances with orchestra at the prestigious Chan Centre in Vancouver, BC.
Scott Meek attended Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio, to earn his Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts (East Asian Studies) degrees, studying under Alvin Chow. At the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Meek received his Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees, studying under the world-renowned pianist and founding member of the Beaux-Arts Trio, Menahem Pressler.
